"But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people... As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for He called you out of the darkness and into the wonderful light."

- 1 Peter 2:9

A key part in self-awareness and self-love is knowing who you are and in this, comes knowing who you are in Christ. Knowing who you are in Christ isn't just being saved or getting baptized. Knowing who you are in Christ comes with knowing Christ himself. His miracles and acts that He has worked throughout your life has allowed you to be molded and experience growth that made you who you are today.

An idea of Christ and His relationships with His children is that God puts you through struggle, hurt, and pain to make you stronger. I feel that, in my experience, God has put me through struggle not to make me stronger - but to weaken me. Sometimes we have areas of darkness in our lives where we toughen up and put on a shell of hard exterior to mask the emotions that we hide. But, this only prevents us from weakening ourselves enough to allow our vulnerability and transparency to shine through.

In my life, God has allowed me free will in situations where chaos surrounds me. In those situations, my free will can bring me into those times of darkness. But, its up to me and the free will that God gave me to remember His strength, unwavering mercy, and guiding words to bring me out of the darkness and into the wonderful light that He destined to shine from me.

Today, choose to continuously bring yourself out of those dark moments by demonstrating a free will of faith.
