”You become what you believe.”

- Oprah Winfrey

Self-talk is important. How we talk to ourselves sets the tone for how we approach others and how, ultimately, we are as individuals. But this also works the other way around, as well.

How we allow others to talk to us sets an important foundation for what we choose to believe and shapes our mindsets. Our environment can positively or negatively influence our mindsets and self-worth - if we let it. That is why negative self-talk and negative environments can be so detrimental to our wellbeing. If we keep saying things to ourselves like "I can't succeed" or we are in an environment that

influences us to feel this way, then it becomes true in our minds because we limit our light.

There are two questions that are so

important to ask ourselves in the midst of our growth:

• How can we expect others to root for us when we fail to root for ourselves?

• How can we begin to root for ourselves when we are in an environment that doesn't see or influence the light in us?

We have to engage in positive and real self-talk with ourselves in order to allow ourselves to build an environment that influences and motivates the light inside of us.

It's so important to push ourselves to be better than we were yesterday, but give ourselves grace when times are tough.
