Shifting into Abundance

As I'm writing this, I feel an inner stillness. It's as if I am looking out, standing in the dark of night, looking out into a river. And as the river flows, my body moves in sync with the movements. The water flowed to the left, then the body flowed left alongside it; and with each flow my body caught each ebb and tide.

When we as humans, move from right to left and left to right, we perceive it to be chaos. We perceive that we are nothing but small, flighty birds - unsure of our destination and unsure of our purpose. Sometimes, we place the chaos amongst ourselves. The rocking and rowing, ebbing and tiding. We see more movement as "organized chaos"; the "hey, at least we're hustlin' and getting to our money" chaos. As long as there is steady movement, we perceive ourselves as "successful". But steady and constant movement is not realistic.
Sometimes, you have to align yourself with the movement of the waters before you.
You have to flow. And you have to do the work.
You have to accept the flowing and change the narrative in your mind that success can only be aligned with constant movement; movement bordering on chaos.
It isn't ideal nor is it healthy for your mind, body, and soul to be subjected to harsh winds of constant hustle because, over time, the hustle turns into a mindset. And when you have a certain mindset, it tends to work overtime in finding things and activities to support that mindset. When the life motto is to hustle hard and get to the bag daily - you leave no room for you. Yes, the work you do in order to financially sustain yourself is for you, but that work is just that - its work.
When you come home and slide out of the work attire into your loungewear, do you find something to work on? Do you take work, slide it into the backseat of the car, drive home, and bring work in through the front door with you?
That's not healthy, love.
Again, what is your destination?
What is your purpose?
You won't find the destination at the end of the hallway you walk down to get to your office. You won't find your purpose behind the doors of the gym, between the weights and the bench.
You will find your destination and your purpose when you find you.
You already have the answers, you just have to take a breath and listen for them.
In chapter 4 of Mark, Jesus and His disciples wanted to cross to the other side of the lake. They took Jesus in the boat and started to leave when a big storm came, rocking the boat, causing chaos. The disciples were scared as water began to fill the boat. All the while, Jesus slept comfortably, with no fear. The disciples were shocked and woke him up and asked if He cared that they are going to drown? Jesus stood up and rebuked it. He turned to the waves and said,
"Peace, be still."
And the waves and the wind obeyed. Everything was still.
There is chaos in your life and you're running around trying to cover up the chaos, trying to make it all okay by taking care of pieces of the chaos instead of cleaning out the chaos. If we were to be like Christ and command ourselves to "be still", we would be able to sit in that stillness. Let the air around us push us just to flow with life, not pushing against the currant, but just flowing to the direction the currant pushes us, picking up wisdom, self-compassion, self-awareness, pure love, and grace along the way.
The good thing about water is that it's abundant. No matter where we flow, we will still be in abundance.
